Naval Cemetery Park

The Brooklyn Greenway Initiative has recently re-opened a neglected former Naval Hospital Cemetery and converted it into a green oasis in the middle of the Navy Yard. Since being decommissioned in the 1920s, the cemetery sat idle behind fencing until the Initiative went to work planting over 100 new trees, 20,000 plants and installing walkways and public viewing platforms throughout the site. The park is located on Williamsburg St West between Kent and Flushing Aveneues(map). Summer hours are Wednesday-Sunday 8am - 8pm
